Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 27, 2026

1. The short version

We collect the minimum information needed to run the job search experience and bill paying customers. We never sell your data. We never share your resume or profile with employers without your explicit click.

2. What we collect

Account data: name, email address, password (hashed), country of residence, and any optional profile fields you fill in.

Subscription data: plan tier, billing history, and payment method details. Card numbers are tokenized and stored by Stripe — UpJobz never sees the raw card number.

Usage data: pages visited, searches run, jobs saved, and applications started. We use this strictly to improve the product and to debug failures.

Resume content: only if you upload one. Resumes are stored encrypted at rest and used only for the AI features you trigger (resume scoring, cover-letter drafts, fit analysis).

3. How we use it

To run the service: account creation, login, search, recommendations, billing, and customer support.

To improve the service: anonymous, aggregated analytics on which features get used and where users drop off. We don’t build advertising profiles.

To communicate: transactional emails (receipts, password resets, plan changes) and optional product updates you can unsubscribe from any time.

4. Who we share with

Service providers acting on our behalf — hosting (Render), payments (Stripe), email delivery, error monitoring, and AI inference. Each is bound by a data-processing agreement and only handles the data needed to do its job.

Employers, only when you click apply on a listing. At that point you are explicitly handing your information to that employer’s application system.

Law enforcement, only when legally required and after we have evaluated the request.

5. Your rights

You can request a copy of your personal data, correct it, delete it, or close your account at any time. Email privacy@upjobz.com or use the workspace settings page.

If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA), Canada (PIPEDA), or Mexico (LFPDPPP), you have additional rights under your local law. We honor those for every user, regardless of where they live.

6. Cookies and tracking

We use a small set of first-party cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

You can disable cookies in your browser, but you may not be able to stay signed in if you do.

7. Data retention

Account data is retained while your account is active and for a short window after closure to handle billing and support tickets. Resumes and AI-generated content are deleted within 30 days of account closure.

Anonymous, aggregated analytics may be retained indefinitely.

8. Children

UpJobz is not directed at children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has signed up, email privacy@upjobz.com and we will delete the account.

9. International transfers

Our infrastructure is hosted in the United States (Oregon and Ohio). If you use UpJobz from Canada or Mexico, your data is transferred to the US for processing. We use standard contractual clauses with our service providers where required.

10. Changes

We will announce material changes to this policy by email or in-product notice at least seven days before they take effect.

11. Contact

Privacy questions or requests: privacy@upjobz.com. General contact options are listed on our /contact page.

This policy is a plain-language summary, not legal advice. If a specific situation matters to you, talk to a privacy attorney in your jurisdiction.
